Chicken Biryani Recipe

How to Make Biryani


 Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Chicken
  • 500 gm Basmati Rice
  • 4 Onions (1 finely chopped, 3 thinly sliced)
  • 3 Tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 1 Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 2 Green chilies
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup Ghee
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as required

Instructions:

  1. Wash chicken thoroughly, add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. Soak basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  3. In a pan, heat oil and fry the finely chopped onions.
  4. Once onions are translucent, add ginger-garlic paste and cook until raw smell disappears.
  5. Add tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala, and saute.
  6. Add marinated chicken and cook well.
  7. Add required salt and water, bring to a boil.
  8. After boiling, simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
  9. Spread half of the cooked rice in a pot.
  10. Layer the remaining rice and marinated yogurt on top.
  11. Garnish with curry leaves, mint leaves, and add ghee. Cover the pot.
  12. Cook on medium heat for 15 minutes.
  13. Turn off heat, let it rest covered for 5 minutes, and enjoy delicious chicken biryani!

Tips:

  • Feel free to add cashews, almonds, or raisins for extra flavor.
  • For richer biryani aroma, include a few cloves and cardamom pods.
  • Use a pressure cooker to speed up the cooking process.
