How to Make Biryani
Ingredients:
- 1 kg Chicken
- 500 gm Basmati Rice
- 4 Onions (1 finely chopped, 3 thinly sliced)
- 3 Tomatoes (finely chopped)
- 1 Ginger-Garlic paste
- 2 Green chilies
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/2 tsp Curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp Mint leaves
- 1/4 cup Ghee
- 3 tbsp Oil
- Salt - to taste
- Water - as required
Instructions:
- Wash chicken thoroughly, add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and marinate for 30 minutes.
- Soak basmati rice for 30 minutes.
- In a pan, heat oil and fry the finely chopped onions.
- Once onions are translucent, add ginger-garlic paste and cook until raw smell disappears.
- Add tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala, and saute.
- Add marinated chicken and cook well.
- Add required salt and water, bring to a boil.
- After boiling, simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
- Spread half of the cooked rice in a pot.
- Layer the remaining rice and marinated yogurt on top.
- Garnish with curry leaves, mint leaves, and add ghee. Cover the pot.
- Cook on medium heat for 15 minutes.
- Turn off heat, let it rest covered for 5 minutes, and enjoy delicious chicken biryani!
Tips:
- Feel free to add cashews, almonds, or raisins for extra flavor.
- For richer biryani aroma, include a few cloves and cardamom pods.
- Use a pressure cooker to speed up the cooking process.
